Pissed off with the Sale Price already. What an eyesore haha

Just realised how suppliers are amazed by the colours we launched

a supplier told me how some girls have looked at colour chart and point out " isn't that midori green?"

hehe midori green was a word we coined out minutes before the launch cos we wanted the colours to be named after drinks ie: " midori green"/ "cosmo(politan) red"

I think seeing how girls love bright hues instead of the usual black and white has encouraged other shops to explore bright pastel-ly hues as well.

Have submitted a whole lotta pics+dresses to the factory, am waiting in anticipation now.

The Wanderlust Seagreen sold out by 9:33pm! Unbelievable!

Mery was sharing with me how some girls were tryin to squeeze into the Backorder slots: like how they had to run to the ATM to transfer cos their IB failed, how some of them had a bad day and this dress would totally make their day

 hehehehee i couldn't stop laughing , this blogshop has definitely added much muse to our lives.

I can't imagine switching to a "click+add to shopping cart "function, it's like losing interaction with so many friends.

Disappointment of the week:
The flea which was suppose to be held today n tmrw was cancelled. We paid up the monies to reserve a stall and 2 days later, they told us Far East Plaza rejected their event in the last minute. How does this work? Shouldn't the event be confirmed before getting vendors? *pfft*
Fleas are great fun, too bad it didn't work out :(

Had dinner at Ivin's yesterday, came home to change to prep for a night out with Anna and guess what. I conked out & woke up at 5am thinking I had to go to work this morning LOL.

Am glad its the weekend, will be going down to Inhabit later , I wanna check out a bridesmaid dress! Mery's wedding is gonna be on the 23-24th May , not Feb as said in November cos there was simply not enough time!

 She's got her wedding dress & we still have to source for the evening gown:) 

Mery's gonna have 9 bridesmaids! hahahahaha what a posse!

Everytime we're in the car, we talk about her wedding and I'll start to gush. 

I'm so thrilled one of my closest friends have found her lil piece of bliss :)

the original dress was from Zara and after sale it's retailing at $99.90.
Ours is gonna be sold at a third of tht price.

our backorder for Wanderlust Peppermint didn't come out right

the factory mixed up the colours and we have a new colour combi to sell 

( cos we don't wish to reject it and let this design to be leaked to other blogshops)

I had no idea what he ordered for me but it was uber yummy.
it was baked rice half smothered in bolognaise and the other in cream+corn
the steak/ chicken cutlet (des had the chicken ) was cooked really well! the meat was so juicy and tender :D~~

Toilets should always be spacey, but once the spacey toilets exist, pple tend to stay longer inside as well haha

Not my week

Happy 2010.

Had a really bad start for the week. Aussie mining stocks rallied like C R A Z Y , n I can't believe I missed out on some of the action cos I was busy tryin to make up for  my losses in some non-mining stocks.

Some on my portfolio: AGO, CBH, BPT, ESG touched  new highs and at a rate too fast ( 7%,26%, 6.28%,13% respectively) so ASX had to issue speeding tickets.

6th Jan:

Got into a car accident with this seriously shitty dude.

It happened in the car park.

I was clearly in the wrong: didn't realise I was in the wrong direction and while I was reversing,I didn't see him coming out of his lot my left, I was making sure I wouldn't hit the bonnets of the cars parked nearest to me on my right by looking at the right sideview mirror & rearview mirror only.

So what happened was: i heard my censor go "beep" and i stopped cos i thought i was reversing too closely to the bonnets then i heard a loud slamming of the car door and a loud " OEI WHAT U DOING" and a man was behind my car.

I swear that voice belonged to the army.

Not knowing I had reversed into him while he was getting out of his lot: I got out of my car and

shouted back " HEY you don't need to raise your voice at me okay" cos by then pockets of people were staring at us.

( tried to sound damn ah lian but i was trembling like a leaf by then)

 Both our cars were obstructing traffic cos the goon ms lim was in the wrong direction and he didn't move from the point of accident.

so we had to each find a parking lot first.

I  went over to his car,apologised, offered to pay for his damage, it was 2 deep and long scratches from front passenger door to back door.

OKAY U KNOW WHAT : ALL I WANT TO SAY IS FUCK YOU CLARENCE.

You're the UNCOOLEST guy i've ever met.e we spoke on Thursday to confirm Saturday's meeting and I agreed . Friday night he calls and my iphone was on silent and I missed ONE call frm him, saw 2 new texts from him, before i got to read them, he rings me again  so i picked up and he first thing he says to me" sarah, u must remember that you are in the wrong"

Immediately i said " Im sorry clarence i missed your call BUT WHAT DID U SEND ME in your texts, cos i already said i'll meet you so you better tell me what you texted me before i read them"

Pussy says " I'm sorry, just want to confirm 9am at toyota workshop "
then i said "OKAY, see you there"

went to read my texts and he says :

 he has the CCTV to back him up and to show that I was obviously in the wrong and that he can find witnesses easily

SERIOUSLY , HOW UNCOOL IS THAT, he thought I was going to back out from this.

I texted him " there is no need for you to provoke me or threaten me in any way cos I've already given my word to be there"

I've been in an accident with a lady before and everything was smooth, admitted i was in the wrong, settled it in a  private workshop ( she was so considerate to do it there & NOT at the official auto workshops cos they're bound to cut-throat).After the repairs were done, met up and paid and i felt like i was doing my part as a responsible civilian.

 Urgh, the worst $560 i've paid and felt like a complete fool/. to hit into someone, be discounted on my credibility even though i tried my best to assure him and pay so much without having the chance to bargain. So not worth it. The next person who hits into me shall not have a good time either.I'm all ready to go ballistic.

8th Jan:

Realised Fitness First ( 1 george street) has been deducting $261.50 from my account , thought maybe they couldn't deduct from the previous month so I checked my history and hello, another $261.50 appeared in my statement

Gave them a call to ask about my monthly fees cos no way would I have signed up if it was above $200.

Friendly girl Vanessa was really helpful , she confirmed with me my member ship fees shld be $130+

n she'll get back to me.

The manager calls ( yes they are always the one to deliver the shitty news) and says FF has been double-charging me cos of an internal error whereby my card was linked to another lady, so i've been paying for her all this time and she hasn't? or is she being double-charged as well?

Let's see August to January , i've officially paid up for a Year in just 6 mths.

I'm gonna give them this weekend & Monday to settle it before I see them on Tuesday and they better give me 1 whole year of free membership and cash compensation.

Gyms are dodgy when it comes to membership fees, take California Fitness Singapore for example.

Once your "subscription/membership/package whatever its called" ends, they don't give two hoots and still charge to your card.( horrors, yes, they don't stop automatically). They are THAT shameless.

I  signed up with Cali for 2 years membership in start of 2006, and in 2008, i paid for a whole year without going cos i was busy and i kept thinking it was gonna be my last year cos it didn't make any sense they would keep deducting if i only signed up for TWO years and no letter came to request for re-newal.

After a check at the counter, i've been paying for nothing cos the package expired a year ago in 2007, so i terminated it on the spot & i blamed myself for not being more careful.

Just thought i'll rant cos it's not been my week at all.
& BECAUSE ITS SUNDAY, im going to wear a ridiculously bright floral dress to try and "lift" my spirits up.
Pris and Gina who are going to meet me in a bit, be warned of the ridiculous floral dress.

GDBYE 2009!

Everyone in the office were in high spirits :)

 Had a cozy lunch at Majestic Hotel with the entire family from dad's side.

Food was good and the company was great as well :)

Pris managed to secure a table at Overeasy and we were pleasantly surprised when we were placed outdoors right next to the water :)

We're so glad Johan joined us as well! the last time we spent NYE together was when G was in HKG 3 years ago! darlin' G had to be at the esplanade to work and we really missed her!

Tabitha met Mery & I for some major discussion for the blogshop.

She's gonna help us out next year :)

It would be fun, we're trying to pyscho her into posing for us LOL :)

She said she'll try her best to help us reach out to another 300-500 customers n that is what we need cos we have yet to advertise anywhere since the start of the blogshop through peggy chang's personal blog :)

We received quite a number of emails from customers who were really pleased with their Elodie Waterfall dresses :) I shall call them the "ah jies" of online shopping in sg cos these ladies have the spending power and have quite an influence on silent readers of forums like cozycot, so imagine how surprised we were when they commended the dress to be really well-made in terms of cutting, material and design.

*phew*

what a morale booster :) mery & i will keep working hard on the SMooch items :) thank you so much for the kind support.

29th Dec : High tea at St Regis

Johan came back in time for NYE! :)

high tea was affordably priced at $35++ and it includes sandwiches, pastries,cakes and a choice of quiche/satay/currypuff+ choice of tea and rose champagne

we really loved the salmon sandwiches with little specks of ikura and seaweed on it

but after 2 bottles of wine , we  had to pay abt $100 each?

they have a huge selection of tea and i ordered the paris+singapore blend,

pris had the smoky russian, brendan had the napolean and jojo had the singapore breakfast tea

high tea went well until i KO-ed in the middle of it. 2 glasses of white wine and i blacked out in the toilet & pris wanted to disown me as a friend. it was probably caused by a combination of exhaustion from work and an empty tummy. ahha but all i needed was a quick nap and i was finee

thank gdness i didnt drive so we took a lil walk and a bus to 313 somerset to meet up the rest.

the last time we both took a bus together was back in acjc mann.. so we were reminiscing the bus 106 days

28th Dec: boxing day holiday in Sydney
so it was a public holiday for me as well. we probably had less than 5 public holidays this year pfft.
spent lunch with parents at Taste Paradise at Mosque street and decided to change my hair colour LOL

Boxing Day was a wedding affair for our family and a friend of mine

invitation read quarter past two and i read it as 245pm ahaha so i was late and i was in time to catch the bride before she did her walk :P
her bridesmaids were decked in pink saris and the bestmen were in orange punjabi suits haha

clarissa studied in myprimary sch and was my netball vcap in junior college & her lil sis went to the same sec sch as me
she's one of those girls who were always good in all sports and she's really attractive+smartysmarts

At night, we attended my uncle vincent's wedding :)
his bride is from HK so his wedding involves 2 wedding dinners: one in sg and the second one in hkg
he told me he booked the ballroom at fourseasons a year ago and he did all the prep in sg mostly by himself hahaha AM SO PROUD OF HIM :)

Mery and I decided to get a room at Rasa as it would have been her first time going for one and possibly the last before she gets married :)

Our girlfriends brought drinks and we totally knocked ourselves out

someone actually had a lil wedding solemnisation at the corner and the sound checks were going on, so u can imagine how noisy it was

night before : g & p in my tops from zara haha

the sneaky two came to my room the night before and decided to take a few pieces , proving their point that i would never know if  anything was missing anyway & true enough on saturday: i was like "hey, i have the same top "

when we were at wavehouse, this frenchie walked up to mery and i

and said

"i know you both"

 "hmm we don't think so, you must have got the wrong girls"

and he said "i think you two girls sell clothes online"

 & our jaws dropped cos how on earth would he know right?

then he said his ex gf use to camp on our url from his laptop and he said the hat i wore was so familiar hehe so could it be the havana dress?

& he was so game to say " haha let's take a picture, i must be your first male fan!"

Apparently, he's a commodities trader and he's been in sg for abt 10 yrs now.

ahh mery and i were so amused.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I'm hoping the first dress to be launched in 2010 would be this fabulous work dress :)

we've made it in 3 colours , white top/black skirt, turquoise top/navy skirt and nude top /black skirt, took away the pockets, added an inner top so that the chiffon drapes over nicely without exposing too much :)

I have till Monday to soak up the festivities
so glad for the long break cos I actually managed to catch up on sleep .
I'm gonna hit the post office tdy! :)
Hope the girls will love their goodies.

Clarissa's church wedding (it's gonna be a mini ACJC reunion) and Uncle Vincent's at the FourSeasons.

I dont like meeting up n disappointing pple, doesn't feel gd at all. Sigh. N supplier mis-counted zara inspired blazers so we have less to sell n disappoint another few whom we've invoiced. Gosh why can't they count properly , but hey, even I make such mistakes sometimes so I can't get too mad at them :)

Thought I should explain it here first, before anyone gets annoyed with the non replies. Mery has been replying whenever she can!

Before i have the luxury of time to blog about the fantastic zoukout weekend we had..

this is like the preview of the preview of this week's launch LOL

Mery has gone bk to Indonesia for 2 weeks so I was trying my best to pack 3 backorder items and im still not done yet. (horrors!)Im left with sticking stamps on the envelopes for frosty tweed jackets ;/

 Just spent 2  frustrating hours with my domestic helper cos I needed someone to take pictures for me (haha )and she cannot speak a word of english so we had to take tonnes of pictures ... she doesn't really know how to hold a camera properly and we ended up with lotsa shaky pics :(
with mery out of town, this week( n maybe next)  is gonna be just my silly face on the page , please bear with me!
(  p.s: mery and i tried looking out for pretty girls at Zoukout to model for our shop haha but to no avail )

Sent the car to the workshop on Tuesday. It's 4.5yr old and has travelled more than 100000km,

collected it on Thursday and boy oh boy the wipers, the horn and the air con are replaced, it's as good as new. think i can drive it for another year :D As much as its a tiny car , it has served me pretty well and i've never had problems with the engine.

It's always been a hop into the car, turn the ignition and i'm offf!

 that's probably my review for the hyundai Getz: Hardy and Spiffy!

Was so happy when I saw this design for SMooch arrive on Monday :)

We have been waiting for it since Feb, our 1st manufacturer couldn't deliver it and we released this design  only much later to a supplier whom we can trust :)

Thankfully, they managed to find the right material, stretchy lycra+spandex+viscose so that it feels like an awesome bandage dress with the right fit and sheen : )

Lucky for us, the cloth used comes in an opulent purple shade, so SMooch #14 The Mini Lilo dress will look similar to Lilo's actual herve leger dress complete with pink exposed zipper behind.

and the other variation we have is Lavender with dark purple exposed zipper behind :)

For Wed's launch, it's gonna be a real mini post: this superawesomesexaye dress + a smart long cardigan + a blingbling necklace : )
We're hoping and crossing our fingers for a great response for this SMooch piece.
Sometimes it's tough cos what we think is yummy may not appeal so much to the rest.

Also, another SMooch dress has arrived and i'm pretty happy with the turn out  , till the next teaser! :D

Im really really pissed off with a supplier of ours.

1) She re-manufactured our SMooch woven dress in black AND baby pink.

The original design came only in black, so if she wants to rip it off, it's fine with us but WHY baby pink?

and not to mention the material is of super low quality cotton material so I can't imagine how cheap she's going to price it.

2) Our backorder items: Paper crane dress and CrissCross bandage dresses were placed by us but I see like more than 5 other blogshops selling it and possibly undercutting our prices. How many pieces did each of them take? Less than 6?

ATBU has quite a number to sell each time and it's very taxing when I see other shops selling it at lower prices.

3) She openly declares how we're one of her best customers and yet other shops get to enjoy and ride on our backorder without having to experience the pain to wait and deal with customers who have already placed orders for it and assuring them the stocks will arrive. I wished she kept some aside for us so that we could have dealt with the influx of demand on our side first, before releasing them to other shops.

4) She was clueless the Katie dress from Topshop came in white and yellow originally so I suggested making the dress in white.
She presented the colour chart to us  immediately, so we decided on a shade of white plus quantity per size and we're expecting it to arrive in 3 weeks.

& now, guess what?

Other blogshops are claiming that " they are opening a backorder in white and the colour is only exclusive to them " and yet the backorder may or may not happen cos they need to " hit a minimum quantity".
That sounds so dodgy!

we're all 24 now and we wait another 9 weeks before miss P turns a quarter century old*gasp*

xmas deco at raffles was really simple and festive.

Sunday was MADNESS.
rather, saturday night was MADNESS. i was busy packing and taking stock.Slept only at 4am.

 the flea was suppose to start at 11am.
we  arrived at 12pm, had to set up a clothes rack from ikea from scratch and were only ready by 1245pm ( whoops)
girls flocked by in groups and we were kept busy serving customers till 3pm' before the crowd kinda subsided.
it was SO hot and humid, No fans placed outside, the awnings were out and it made the entire area looked really dark and gloomy:(

Meeting up customers have made me come to realise most of them are young executives who know how to dress up. And majority of them are like really pretty ( and i'm not kidding about tht part) haha
knowing their profiles make it easier to figure out designs and styles that will sell.

sometimes, i really wish we could organise something fun and thank our customers personally,maybe next time when we're longer in this business ( n if we can last long enough)

Tuesday:

Had to come home and pack. Was so sleepy I fell asleep in the middle of writing names on envelopes :X

Paired a denim vest with black jersey tube dress to go to the PO and then out with Pris

Been on a losing streak at work. Doesn't help when the boss doesn't bark at me but instead tells me to be positive and learn from mistakes. 
"Losing streaks doesn't mean Sarah has become a bad Trader, your mission for tomorrow is to make it an up day regardless how small the profit is gonna be. Just make it Up." 
He reminds me to stick to consistent sizes when I trade and not to double up when I'm in the wrong direction.
Rogue stock of the day was:

FairFax Media dumped from 1.700 in the open to 1.575 (low of the day) and rebounded back to 1.635

Incurred losses both ways. Lost what I've made so far since the month of November. Back to square one :( The tough part for me is managing fear when everything is out of control.

resorted to borrowing a book  : "Trading in the Zone: Mark Douglas" which talks abt the psychological aspects of trading.

But I must add that the Night ended well with Sushi, Pris, Gina, Sinclair and Keith at En dining.

Anna and I met at Boomerang along Robertson Quay but we were disappointed not to have proper brunch food (think eggs/ham and the works) we each ordered a Salad and a mezze plate... when the food finally arrived, holey moley! the portions were so big we thought we could feed an entire nation with it. and we were so weak! we could barely scale past the top layer.

It kinda poured a lil so we headed down to vivocity to shop a bit before we made it to the shack where it was dry sands and cool wind. It's funny how it doesn't rain sometimes on Sentosa like it does on the main land right?

Food. Shopping.Music and the Beach. No complaints ;)!

The Halloween Weekend

Anna and I were suppose to buy costumes online from Amazon.com/ Yandy.com /3wishes.com in the middle of Oct but when we did try, most of the amazon stores ( who sold costumes at cheaper rates) didn't ship to SG.

So i bought the catwoman's ears+whip from Lips at Far East Plaza and ordered Wigs from Ebay.com.sg

It was her 1st Halloweeen so she was pretty excited about it.

Imagine my glee when it started to pour so heavily. I was fated to be Storm. HAHA

The 1st place to go was the boss's place . it was at bedok court and it's a huge 6200+ sq ft penthouse.

the belated bday +confirmation gift to myself

after graduation, mum actually passed me her Happy Diamonds watch which I called my "lucky watch" cos it made me money every trading day for the month of Sept but i figured it's a lil too flashy

Girls and i watched The September Issue on Wednesday and it was Fabulous.

 I have new found utmost respect for Grace Coddington, ex model in the 60s and now vogue's creative director. She's amazing. the photoshoots which she directs are so effing beautiful .it's unbelievable that those shoots actually take up so much thought and money. She's inspirational.

Managed to get my paws on the last pc hanging of the rack. A size 6 and it was a lil torn at the hems so topshop said they'll mend it for me but it'll take a week. but yay.  kane for topshop dress.Check!

What a Year.

A regular day for me would be like this

7:18am: Grab coffee from starbucks at phillip street and sadly yestrday was the last 730am coffee i'll ever have from that outlet.

Word has it that we are moving at the start of next yr to 60 Robinson Rd and Im gonna start 630am for the next 6 months , so there... no more coffee lattes at that hr, maybe Redbull from 7-11? :D HAHA

7:30-2PM FULL concentration on my trading screens, cursing and swearing in a roomful of dudes. and I've finally been confirmed : ) took me one year. ONE Year. Girls may not be as good as the Boys, but i'm just glad for this learning opportunity.

Shit ALWAYS happens during the 6 hrs. Here's how: 

3 stocks on thursday 1st Oct acted up after1:15pm ( 45 mins to closing) Totally drove me nuts and into the Red. 

See how both stocks were buying and selling between 2 levels the whole day, these are the easiest stocks to scalp and earn cash. The volume for both stocks are really thin, like less than 100K on each side. Then after 1 p.m., Watch how the  stock on top sold  from 1.610 to 1.575 (I haven't had covered shorts for this )and this is where I went crazy nuts in my head. If i sold all 50Kshares I had, I wld trigger all stop volumes and have caused an acceleration of suicide. I had to hold and wait till it rebounded at least back to a certain state of control ( it's amazing How that one black line was causing all that mindfucking in my head) 

AT THE SAME time, stock below :GFF was rallying from 1.665 to 1.705 and then when it touched 1.710 it was an immediate SELLDOWN . oh gosh i swear i almost had a heart attack. It was a  buy buy buy on the offer and then whacking and selling down the bids. Finally closed at 1.675. Person who was controlling all of these must had made twice the amount. 

And at that moment, CGF sold from 3.35 down to 3.31 ( where i was caught) and holey moley it suddenly spiked up to 3.38 and i SOLD it right there. If my eyes were not on the screen, i wouldn't have been able to catch all of that. Yes, the amazing adventures of my life at work. All dictated by candlesticks and prices. But i Love it.

2:30pm : Im out of the office and i head back to my car n become AcrossTheBloodyUniverse's Santarina/ delivery girl. I'll deliver packages which I've packed the night before. Sometimes someone will help me mail them in the morning to help save a day so that the girls will get their stuff a day earlier.The average envelopes Mery and i have to pack in a day wld be this: 

it's TOTAL NUTS and Merykins  use to find it therapeutic but I've taken over packing so she does the emails nw. And I don't think she finds emails very therapeutic HHAAHAHAH :P Im kidding. She's the best PR person for us and the best partner I've had. On Wednesday night, when we were launching stuff at my place , I looked at her and said " Oh gosh babe, we have been living our weeks like this for a year!"  And it doesn't feel like work at all cos we have so much love for each other. That is the most amazing thing for me.The Friendship between us has definitely gone from tight to tightASS. ahahahahahahaha

She's gonna leave me soon and head back to Indo , and have a beautiful wedding to plan.AND IM GONNA PLAN HER HEN"S NIGHT> I SUGGEST VEGAS! LOL

I'll be needing a new partner but things will never be the same.

For a while, mom thought i was going crazy especially with $3K of stocks accumulating in my study room every week, but I think ATBU having appeared on Life! kinda made her feel a lil proud of us, At least she figured the constant driving in and out to get stocks.deliver.pack.hours spent infront of the laptop was worth it. she wishes she can help but she knows she's not tech savvy  enough and i don't think i want her to help with delivery either HAHA. 

So there story of my life so far. I Work hard and i play reaaaly reallllly hard.

Weekends are so precious in that sense.

was Al's 27th Bday at Senso (Club St)

i must have had like 10 flutes cos there was some magical waitor who just kept on re-filling our glasses
everytime i yakked to anna and turned my eyes back to the table, my glass was filled : )
