sarah says " Namaste"

sat night:
dan and i were invited by my family for dinner at a quaint boutique restaurant called Xi Yan which is a private-dining, reservation-only restaurant originated from Hong Kong with a 3 month waiting list. There is no a-la carte and we sat down for 3 hours immersing our taste buds in a 11-course feast which was one of the finest chinese cuisine i've personally ever tasted. It's not the typical starchy abalone+sharkfins, jelat-inducing food at a typical wedding dinner, it was fusion-inspired and modern.

i took a pic of each dish and the thing i like about chinese dishes is that, there is a meaning to everything, something symbolic or auspicious. as u can probably tell im like totally blown over by the food so here's my 2 cents worth , im hopin i won't be a spoiler here to anyone who's thinkin of giving Xi Yan a visit

38A craig road

1st of 3 appetisers: yu sheng served with salmon sashimi and roe

before every dish is served, a waitor would introduce the dish and tell us about the ingredients n how it was cooked and what we may expect from it
the usual crispy bits were replaced with wanton skin and the sauce was made out of olive oil+kumquat sauce it was awesoommmeeeee.
: )

appetiser no2 :soft-shell crab

this was my favourite. appetiser no 3! momotaro ( hugeee japanese tomatoes that were juicy and sweet served in sesame sauce +wasabi) <3<3 this was dan's favourite: stewed beef
so happy he was, he said " please take a photo of me giving my happy satisfied face"

prawn paste grouper apparently chinese chefs believe that steaming the fish preserves its freshness but they experimented n found out that deep fryin the fish at very very high temperature locks the freshness as well n it was served on a bed of pomelo pulp bits :P
mummsy :)

crab-infused glutinous rice :P
first time havin a palatte cleanser: basil sorbet in rose syrup
its suppose to remove all flavours from your mouth so that we can taste the next dish better
n it was abalone chicken ginseng soup which was yummy

this dish is called good news and old news

old news: it's veges served with preserved vege and the good news is : it's the Last main dish !: )

dessert was tang yuan and even the tang yuan was different it had 5 different ingredients in it, i was hoping for some chocolate but nope... not a hint of chocolate in sight... so that was dinner : ) n we trotted down to dempseys
i'vebeen wanting to take a pic with elayne for quite some time..she's such a hotttie n she's an air stewardess, she can be my fav air stewardess for now
popped over to say hello to mery n perry n friends for a while
we look like we're at some ching chong house hahaha

afterwhich we went to angel's share for drinks and caught up with dan's mates who never fail to crack me up

Of signs and symbols

can u see " W" and " M"?

i thought that was pretty cool. cos W and M are upside down just like how men n women are the opposite sex

singing chef in the kitchen of cos

i think it's missing a hyphen it shld be the "southern-most point of continental asia"

make a guess?
we were at sentosa palawan beach, we wanted a night out on the beach complete with starry skies and wine

but we ended up on top of the tower because there were many tents littered along the beach and screaming malay boys climbing up trees. there are 2 things i dont like abt singapore: weird looking people who hang outside cineleisure and juvenile rascals who pierce the night with their hootings and laughter, just stay inside ur tents pretty please?

the next day: it was jeanette's bday party
n it was super cool, she organised an hour plus yoga session as part of her party
the crew
the bday girl : )

my ultra bright aerobics auntie leggings n my right eye was very red and sore so i had to be ms bespectacled.

we had to do some partner stances n my partner was daniel

who's like 1.85m tall and xx kg

(hehe)

my fav pic of the day! spotted: adrian on the far right having an easy peasy time with his signature bright white smile : D

heheehehee n to complete tonight :

have a great weeek ahead.

namaste!

(which means the divine in me salutes the divine in you)
